Kapu leader and former minister Mudragada Padmanabham has under house arrest since July 26. Mudragada Padmanabham is leading an agitation to force the state government to include Kapus in the BC list. As many as 3,000 police personnel have been deployed in Kadapa, Chittoor, Kurnool and Krishna districts to the Konaseema region to maintain order.
Former MP and Kapu reservation activist leader Mudragada Padmanabham’s attempt to take out another padayatra on Sunday. However, the state police again put under house arrest.

Since July 26, Mudragada had been confined to his residence in Kirlampudi by the police. He had announced that he will launch the ‘Chalo Amaravathi’ padayatra to bring pressure on the TDP (Telugu Desam Party) government and on CM Chandrababu Naidu to include Kapu community in the list of BCs (Backward Communities).
Officer on Special Duty Ravisankar Reddy, Rampachodavaram ASP Nayeem Aadmi and Peddapuram DSP Rama Rao stopped Mudragada as soon as he reached his gate.
He asked them why should not a community join together to fight against a government which failed to fulfil its promises. He questioned if people do not have a right to agitate in a democracy.
He advised the police higher officials not to demean themselves and their positions by being watchdogs near the gate. He said that there’s no question of stopping the padayatra. It would happen one day, if not today, then its tomorrow.
