A plan to shield Bengaluru from the air against Coronavirus that did not take off

A new front in the fight against coronavirus has been grounded even before it took off. An attempt to spray highly-populated areas of Bengaluru city with organic disinfectant has been put on hold by the BBMP.

Aerialworks aero LLP, which was to conduct the operation and claims to have all the permissions, claims that spraying would ensure that organic liquid microns would be suspended in the air for a longer duration. This would ensure that the virus floating in aerosols will be washed down, thus limiting the spread of Covid-19 by air.

However, not everyone is convinced. After some experts questioned the deployment of such technologies over high-density areas without adequate pre-testing and studying the impact on human beings, the BBMP has been forced to ground this pilot project for now.
