Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday made a surprise inspection of the defence ministry's offices in South Block in Delhi to check the cleanliness and working environment of the employees.
During his inspection tour, Rajnath got a first-hand experience of the employees working in his ministry. He went around various sections and inspected cleanliness, work atmosphere and interacted with the employees. He also passed necessary instructions wherever the need for improvement was identified. The minister was accompanied by Department of Defence Production Secretary Rajkumar and other officials of the ministry.
Earlier in the day, Rajnath addressed the Ambassadors' roundtable on the upcoming Defence Expo to be held in Gujarat next year, wherein he highlighted the steps which have been taken to modernize armed forces and manufacture weapon systems. While addressing the ambassadors, the minister said that India's defence exports have grown by 334 per cent in the last five years. He further informed that India was now exporting military equipment to over 75 countries.
He further added that this year's expo focus would be to display India as an emerging destination for the manufacturing of military hardware. Rajnath said that his ministry will remain available and proactively engage through the next four-plus months to develop and build DefExpo-2022 as one of the marquee events as India celebrates its 75 years of independence as Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The previous edition of the DefExpo was held in his constituency Lucknow.
