Four members of a Hindu family, including a retired teacher and his son, were found dead under suspicious circumstances in their locked home in Rangpur, Bangladesh. The bodies of Ganapati Chakraborty and his family showed signs of strangulation and physical abuse, prompting a police investigation after relatives raised the alarm.

Four members of a Hindu family, including a retired school teacher and his 12-year-old son, were found dead inside their locked residence in Rangpur city of Bangladesh under suspicious circumstances, prompting a police investigation. Late on August 22, the bodies were found in a home in Rangpur's Daspara (Machhuapara) neighbourhood. Ganapati Chakraborty, a retired Rangpur Zilla School teacher, his wife Pritilata Chakraborty, their daughter Agami Chakraborty Prarthi, and their son Priyam Chakraborty were identified as the deceased.

Ganapati was 65, Pritilata was 50, Agami was 23, and Priyam was 12, said to news agency ANI, which cited local media sources. The bodies were found on Saturday at around 11:30 p.m. when authorities broke into the locked house. According to Rangpur Metropolitan Kotwali Police Station officer-in-charge Nazmul Kader, the remains were found after the lock was broken.

The circumstances within the residence were questioned in light of the fatalities. The details claim that Ganapati and Priyam may have been strangled since they were discovered with ropes or scarves around their necks. Pritilata and Prarthi were allegedly discovered with evidence of severe physical abuse, according to sources.

According to local media sources that ANI reported, Ganapati's body was recovered from the roof, while the mother and daughter were discovered on the stairs leading to the roof. Meanwhile, Priyam's corpse was discovered beneath a bed.

According to The Daily Star, which ANI reported, Subir Chowdhury, the head of the Rangpur Metropolitan Criminal Investigation Department (CID), verified the places where the remains were discovered.

Relatives were apparently unable to get in touch with the family for several days, which raised concerns. Pritilata's younger sister, Puja Chakraborty, informed The Daily Star that she hadn't spoken to her sister since Thursday afternoon. According to reports, the family turned off all four of their cell phones on Thursday night.

Puja said relatives went to the family’s Daspara residence on Saturday night after failing to reach them. The main gate was locked, and the lights inside the house were switched off. Police subsequently arrived, broke open the lock and entered the house, where they found the four bodies.

The family had reportedly been living in the Daspara area after moving into a newly built house. Their deaths have now triggered a multi-agency investigation.
