Raipur: Residents of Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh witnessed a rare marriage between father-in-law and his 22-year-old daughter-in-law.

The marriage was proposed by Rajpoot Kshatriya Mahasabha’s committee after the young woman remained a widow for the last two years.

The father-in-law Krishna Rajput Singh who is said to be in his mid-forties and the community elders were concerned about the daughter-in-law's 'struggles' and 'loneliness' after her husband Gautham Singh died.

The community that allows the remarriage of women then hit upon the idea of daughter-in-law Aarti Singh's marriage with her father-in-law as he was taking good care of her.

Seeing him care for her for the last two years after her husband passed away, Aarti also agreed.

Following the direction from Hori Singh Doud, Rajpoot Kshatriya Mahasabha committee president, the community leaders accepted the request and a wedding was arranged with only limited gathering due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
