Physically-challenged neighbour shoots woman dead following property dispute

The victim was identified as Shyamvati, neighbour of the accused Dev Kishan Bashisht alias Monu. After combing the area for more than an hour, the police nabbed the accused from his friend’s home, where he was found hiding.

AGRA: A physically-challenged man used both his legs and shot dead a 62-year-old woman in Uttar Pradesh's Kasganj district, as the victim refused to sell her home. The horrific murder was captured on camera by local residents.

The incident occurred on Thursday morning in Hodalpur village of Sauron Police jurisdiction, which is nearly 150 km away from Agra city.

The victim was identified as Shyamvati, neighbour of the accused Dev Kishan Bashisht alias Monu. After combing the area for more than an hour, the police nabbed the accused from his friend’s home, where he was found hiding.

Before being taken to the police station for interrogation, Monu told local media that he shot Shyamvati due to property dispute. She was selling the property to a Muslim family. According to police sources, accused Monu is the brother-in-law of a local political figure.

In the minute-long video, the accused can be seen loading his pistol multiple times to shoot Shyamvati, who attempted to escape the gunshot. The victim was cleaning her utensils, when Monu came with a loaded pistol. Local police are now searching for the criminal history of the accused.

Sushil Ghule, superintendent of police, Kasganj, said, "Initial investigation revealed that the accused wanted to illegally take over the victim's house, where she used to live alone after her husband deserted her.
