The lockdown which the experts were suggesting as a solution to Karnataka has proved a huge relief. The state on Monday witnessed 23,311 new infections compared to May 5th total count of 50,112.

However, the death rate still needs to come down. On Monday, the state witnessed 529 deaths whereas on May 5th, 346 people had died.

The scene in Bengaluru is encouraging as the new infection rate has come down drastically. On April 30, the city reported 26,756 cases but on Monday, the new infections stood at 5,701.

BBMP Commissioner Gaurav Gupta took to his official Twitter handle to share the news and also appealed to the public to remain alert.

28 Covid Care Centers with 3,000 beds capacity including 1,000 oxygen beds, the BBMP is making all efforts to ensure Bengaluru comes out of Covid clutches.

At the state level too, efforts are made to ensure more people undergo Covid test and get treatment accordingly to suppress the infection at the initial stage itself and blunt the spread.

Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa who was on city rounds on Monday, also felt good about the dropping Covid new infection rate and at the same time asked the officials to ensure the new infections drop from 5,000 to 3000 in a few more days.

Meanwhile police teams across Karnataka have been asked to strictly ensure the lockdown implementation as this is the only solution at present to bring down the numbers and educate people about the importance of mask, sanitization, social distance and subjecting oneself to test immediately after showing any slightest symptoms of Covid.

Note:Asianet News humbly requests everyone to wear masks, sanitize, maintain social distancing and get vaccinated as soon as eligible. Together we can and will break the chain #ANCares #IndiaFightsCorona
