An independent witness of the Narcotics Control Bureau in the Aryan Khan case, whose selfie with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's son went viral, has been detained in Pune in connection with a cheating case dating back to 2018. The action comes days after KP Gosavi claimed there was a threat to life and that he would surrender to the police.
KP Gosavi, one of the 10 NCB witnesses, was present during the Mumbai cruise ship raid earlier this month and afterwards with Aryan Khan in the NCB headquarters. His pictures and videos revealed he had unrestricted access to the 23-year-old. As a result, Maharashtra's governing coalition questioned the anti-drug agency's inquiry.

Gosavi allegedly controlled a firm called KPG Dreamz Solutions, which guaranteed hopefuls from various disciplines work abroad. For promotion, the firm took advantage of social media sites. The lawsuit was filed after an aspirant accused Gosavi of defrauding him of Rs 3.09 lakh under the guise of a job at a Malaysian hotel. When the aspirant arrived in Malaysia, he discovered that Gosavi had duped him.

In the Aryan Khan case, a guy claiming Gosavi's bodyguard accused him of bribery, putting him in even more difficulties.  Prabhakar Sail, who is one of the witnesses in the case, stated that he overheard Gosavi during a call concerning payoffs with one Sam D'Souza. Sail said he overheard Gosavi suggest they should request a "bomb 25 crore" and then settle for 18 crores, 8 crore of which is for the NCB's zonal officer in charge of the probe Sameer Wankhede.

On October 3, Wankhede led a narcotics bust on a cruise off the coast of Mumbai, which resulted in the arrest of Aryan Khan and others.  Gosavi spoke with the media about the claims, stating he would surrender because he "can't accept any more." He denied ever seeing Shah Rukh's manager Pooja Dadlani or going to the Trident Hotel to demand money.
Gosavi went on to say that the selfie that went viral was taken at the cruise port, not at the NCB office. He stated that he learned about the drug ring from a reliable source and alerted the NCB. He said there was a threat to his life and that he had received multiple extortion calls after October 3, claiming that political motives were at work.
