Tollywood drug bust: Charmme Kaur’s dad writes open letter to media supporting her

FollowIt has been a week since new broke out in Hyderabad about how Tollywood celebrities could be involved in a drug racket. A few arrests in this regard brought to light the situation in the city. From a phone seized from one of the accused in the drug bust case, a lot of a names from the Telugu film industry have come out.
Media got their hands on them and for a week now speculations, rumours have been rife. The Excise department and the Special Investigation team had called some of these film personalities to further their probe into the matter. Actress Charmme Kaur’s name also figured on that list along with director Puri Jagannadh, actor Ravi Teja, Navdeep and more. While Puri Jagan sat for investigation on July 19, Charmme was supposed to attend it today. However, the actress chose to give it a skip and Shyam K Naidu went for interrogation instead.
The reason why she skipped it has not been disclosed. However, the actor’s father chose to come out and tell the media that because of the hurtful news and implications being printed online and in newspapers their family’s reputation and peace of mind has been suffering. Her father Deep Singh Uppal spoke about her alleged involvement in an open letter to the media.

My Daughter has no time focussing on these stupid things. I know my daughter. She is working since the age of 13 and she is still working successfully in the industry. She will not have this longevity of success n amazing career if she is involved in such illegal activities. It is her hard work and dedication which has brought her this far. She is taking care of our entire family since she has started working and she is still being a strong pillar for us. I and Charmme are strong enough in dealing with such fake and senseless fewer speculations but my wife is very disturbed as her daughter is being pointed for what she is not involved in. She is heartbroken and her health is gone worse.
My humble request for media is to think of their families before making such wrong allegations and publish stories and spreading the news. Being one of the powerful media, our respect towards you would be immense if you stick to the facts before broadcasting some untrue news on television. It will get you down and also disturb a person very badly. I wanted to make it clear yet again that Charmme is not into all this and I can proudly say that I brought up my kid well.
Charmme is focussing on her business “Puri Connects” and busy shaping up the ongoing project ‘Paisa Vasool’. She has no time to focus on all these stupid things. And I am also a dear friend of Puri Sir. He is completely immersed in his work 24/7. He is a gem of a person and I’m sure he is nowhere involved in all these false news.
