The Hyderabad High Court granted a stay on all proceedings of the appointment of the Telangana State Commission for Protection of Child Rights Chairman.

A petition was filed by Achyuta Rao against the TRS (Telangana Rashtra Samithi) government that the Chairman appointment was against the law. TRS Government appointed former TRS Secretary and political leader Gudimalla Ravi Kumar as the commission chairman.

Rule 4 says that there has to be a selection committee which recommends the name of the chairman.

The counsel for the petitioner C Damodar Reddy said that the government did not follow any rules. The  High Court agreed with the petitioner and granted an interim stay until further orders.
