Telangana Fearing defamation in beautician suicide case sub inspector commits suicide

A sub-inspector from Kukunoorpally police station was found dead on his chair at his residential quarters in Siddipet. He had reportedly committed suicide with his service revolver. Incidentally, this happened a day after a 28-year-old woman employee of a photo studio ended her life by hanging herself from the ceiling fan at her office.

Meanwhile, the relatives of the sub-inspector P Prabhakar Reddy alleged that the sub-inspector committed suicide because of pressure from his seniors, it is said that he took this drastic step because he was connected to the death of the beautician. It is being alleged that he had made sexual advances toward the woman a day before her death. When that came out in the open, the inspector feared that he would be defamed and took his own life.

Sirisha, aka Arusumilli Vijayalakshmi, worked as a beautician and HR manager at the RJ Photography near Filmnagar in Jubilee Hills. She was found hanging from the ceiling fan of her office Tuesday morning. While a case of suspicious death was filed, the news broke only on Wednesday morning.

In the case of 32-year old Prabhakar, his body was found in a pool of blood by his colleagues on Wednesday afternoon. Police believes that he killed himself between 12:45 pm and 1 pm. He was wearing his police uniform when he shot himself. He apparently had come to duty that day but left by 12 noon.

Following the death of the SI, violence erupted in his native village of Aloor. Interestingly, Prabhakar Reddy had taken over as the Kukunoorpally SI after his predecessor, 45-year old V Ramakrishna Reddy had also committed suicide in the same way. Meanwhile, Telangana's Director General of Police, Anurag Sharma, said that the case would be investigated from all angles. There was unrest in Siddipet also as the relatives of the SI took to the roads to protest. They insisted that harassment from the senior officials led to the incident. Prabhakar is survived by his wife and children.
