Telangana activist Yevuru Somanna handcuffed and held by police

Telangana poet, write and singer Yevuri Somanna was handcuffed and held prisoner on the order of an MLA’s wife.

According to Somanna’s relatives and close friends, Yevuri Somanna has two wives and he has to pay Rs 5000 every month to his first wife as spousal maintenance. But the poet allegedly stopped sending money for the past few months post which the wife complained to the Tirumalagiri police in Suryapet district. Prior to complaining to police, she approached Nakirekal MLA’s wife Pushpa alias Aruna for justice.

Aruna immediately pressurised the Tirumalagiri police to handcuff Somanna and was seen arguing with him.

But Somanna told his friends that he was being targeted for writing songs on the Telangana government. However, this act of the police of handcuffing a Telangana activist has been condemned by the public. Social media is questioning this violation of Somanna’s human rights.
