The incident, which took place, under the Karimnagar police limits. According to local reports, the incident took place on Friday.
The Student Federation of India (SFI) on Friday carried out a protest march ‘Chalo Collectorate’ in Karimnagar District to meet the Collector and submit a list of their grievances.
Hundreds of students marched to the Karimnagar Collectorate and police had to be deployed to control the crowd. Even though there were several female protestors, there were no police women to handle the crowd.
As the tensions ran high, the police used force to scatter the students. It is now being alleged that the policemen physically assaulted the female students. An image of a policeman, pinching a protesting female student watch captured by the photographer of a local daily.
Incidents of violence and abuse against women are an everyday affair in our society. It should be recalled that recently Mahboobabad Collector Preethi Meena was molested by MLA Sankar Nayak.
Later Revenue officials agitated against the misbehaviour of Sankar and with the interference of the CM of Telangana, Sankar was forced to apologise to the Collector.
