Rhesus monkeys of Telangana have apparently learnt a new trick. They come in numbers to drive away their larger cousins – the Langur monkeys. These Langur monkeys were brought in villages and towns to scare the Rhesus monkeys away because the latter used to plague the towns and the villages.

This trick was revealed by the Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary in the Legislative Assembly during the Question hour on Tuesday.

TRS member Jalagam Venkat Rao was being questioned by the environment and forest minister Jogu Ramanna regarding the steps the government has taken to get rid of the monkey menace. It was then the Speaker of the house intervened and revealed the trick.

Another member of TRS Errabelli Dayakar Rao supported Jalagam Rao and said that Rhesus monkeys have been destroying crops of the helpless villagers.

As a result, the government has now allocated ₹ 2.2 crore to stop this monkey menace by catching them as soon as they can. Ramanna has also said that he is soon going to sit for a meeting with the MLAs over this issue.
