Sub-registrar, who is charged illegally transferring 693 acres of government land to private companies illegally, was arrested by the Cyberabad police following a complaint by district registrar N Saidi Reddy.

With the arrest of Kukatpally sub-registrar Rachakonda Srinivasa Rao, a multi-crore scam was unearthed. The police also arrested the directors of the two companies. Accordingly, PVS Sharma of Goldstone Infratech and PS Parthasarathy of Trinity Infraventures Ltd have been arrested along with Rao.

The prime accused Rao is charged with taking crores of bribe to transfer the government land for a cheap rate. This illegal stint by Rao has caused the government exchequer a loss of Rs 587 crore.

A shocking revelation was made that the accused made a total payment of just Rs 68 lakh towards Rs 587 crore worth land.

The police are further investigating the case to connect the missing links and to book everyone who helped Rao carry out this work.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Madhapur DCP Vishwa Prasad said, “There were many legal disputes going on in court regarding this land. In 2011, the deputy collector wrote to the sub-registrar again, stating that the land belonged to the government. P.S. Parthasarathi (of Trinity Intraventures) and others prepared a GPA from the various petitioners who had filed a case in the court and executed a deed in favour of Suvishal Power Gen Ltd. Sub-registrar Srinivas Rao helped the suspects to transfer the land.”

It is interesting that Rao was using the money he got as a bribe to go on international tours. Like, this year itself he had been to Australia.

Now the police are trying to track Rao’s property. Soon, the Anti-corruption Bureau is likely to conduct raids on his properties.
