Hyderabad drug bust: SIT clarifies that it is not targeting anybody

  • Excise officials RV Chandravadan and Akun Sabharwal told the media that all efforts are being made for an impartial investigation
  • The investigation is proceeding according to the guidelines of Supreme Court, the SIT said.

Hyderabad drug bust SIT clarifies that it is not targeting anybody

Amid concerns that the Special Investigations Team looking into the massive drug haul in Hyderabad, the Excise Commissioner Chandravadan and Prohibition and Excise (P&E) Director Akun Sabharwal requested the media not to make meaningless statements.

Excise Commissioner Chandravadan told the media that the case was being dealt with highest priority, especially after it came out that hundreds of school students were being targeted by the drug mafia.

The SIT members also requested the Telugu film personalities to continue their cooperation with the investigative team. Chandravadan pointed out that all are equal before law and there has not been any selective targeting.

The SIT team led by Akun Sabharwal has the full backing of the Telangana CM, added Excise Commissioner Chandravadan.

Drug case is a sensitive issue to be handled within the guidelines of Supreme Court. All methods and methodologies using all technologies are being followed for an impartial and wholesome investigation.

He requested people not to pass derogatory comments which demean the morale of the SIT team.
