Gutha Sukender Reddy resigns as Nalgonda MP

  • Gutha Sukender Reddy defected from Congress to join TRS
  • Nalgonda is the stronghold of Congress
  • If TRS wins Nalgonda by-election, it would be a feather to its cap
Gutha Sukender Reddy resigns as Nalgonda MP

Nalgonda Lok Sabha constituency TRS (Telangana Rashtra Samithi) MP Gutha Sukender Reddy resigned from his post and handed over his resignation to the Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who in turn will submit it to the Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan after Dasara.

There are many political aims behind this resignation that were plotted even before Gutha decided on his resignation. Gutha won the 2014 elections as a Congress MP but defected from the party to join TRS. Congress demanded his resignation but KCR didn’t heed their demand.

But TRS recently faced opposition on various scams – like land scam, sand mafia, Nerella Dalit atrocity issue and non recruitment of jobs. Congress, TDP (Telugu Desam Party), BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) and even JAC (Joint Action Committee) under the leadership of Prof. Kodandaram are agitating against TRS government.

To ward off all these issues, TRS wishes to win in the Nalgonda by-election as TDP won in the Nandyal by-poll and prove to the State and the Centre that Telangana people still believe in the TRS government. Nalgonda would prove to be a Nandyal for TRS.

TRS also plans to prove that Nalgonda is no more a stronghold to Congress. It seeks to win the favour of the people and suppress the opposition.

As furthering the plan, Gutha was given a Cabinet ranking post of Farmer Cooperation Samithi chairman and TRS is preparing to win the Nalgonda MP seat with a new candidate.
