Dasoju Sravan accuses KTR of neglecting Information Technology project

Telangana PCC (Pradesh Congress Committee) General Secretary Dasoju Sravan Kumar accused the TRS (Telangana Rashtra Samithi) government of ignoring ITIR (Information Technology Investment Region) project approved by the previous UPA government.

Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan on Wednesday, Dasoju accused IT and Municipal Administration minister K Taraka Ramarao of sabotaging the ITIR project which would have provided indirect employment to lakhs of youth in Telangana State.

He said the former IT Minister in the Congress government Ponnala Lakshmaiah worked hard for the project securing permission in the 18 departments. The primary and technical works have completed and it was just a matter of implementation which the TRS government had neglected resulting in lakhs of jobs lost.

Dasoju said that the previous UPA government after a lot of investigation and research identified 50,000 acres of land for it in five zones in and around Hyderabad. The ITIR project was designed to attract global investments of more than Rs 2.19 lakh crores with a scope of 15 lakh direct jobs for technical experts and 60 lakh indirect jobs.

He questioned as to why it was difficult to garner funds for ITIR project when crores of rupees were available for irrigation and Mission Bhagiratha. The total outlay of the project is Rs 13000 crores of which Rs 3000 is funded by the Centre. The remaining amount needs to be spent by the State Government.

He said that the Central government was delaying the project for Cabinet approval and the tone of KTR’s letter to the Centre is a mere blame game. He said the TRS government should have taken the issue to the Parliament if the Centre was unwilling to support.

Dasoju demanded the government to publish a White Paper on ITIR and said that the Congress would agitate and pressurise TRS government to implement the ITIR project.

He said that with ITIR project Telangana State would have emerged as another China, Korea or Silicon Valley.
