Come out and speak about drug allegations RGV to Tollywood stars

Noted and controversial Tollywood film maker Ram Gopal Varma (RGV) wrote an open letter to the Telugu Film Chamber (TFC) in response to the joint letter written by the members of Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce and Telugu Film Producersā€™ Federation to Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.Ā

In a memorandum to KCR, the Film Chamber requested that the ongoing investigation into cases of drug abuse in the Tollywood film industry be conducted in a "discreet manner". The letter said, "Because of a few people, the entire industry got a bad name, which is very sad,"

RGV questioned the Chamber's "apology" in the letter. "The people who were interviewed never admitted to any mistake and neither did the cops conclude anything. Then why did the Chamber send an apology letter and how can they decide that those who were questioned were found guilty? Instead of writing an apology, the Chamber should ask authorities how they concluded that everyone who got notices did something wrong, without proving anything?" wrote RGV.

Here is the gist of the open letter of RGV to the Film Chamber:

"Film Chamber need not be ashamed of the drug scandal issue. Why did they send an open letter apologising for the drug scandal? None of the film personalities who received notices and attended the investigation confessed that they had committed a crime and neither did the SIT officials prove them wrong. Then why should an apology be given?

The one line in apology letter said, 'Because of a few people, the entire industry got a bad name, which is very sad'. Who stated that they did wrong? Chamber should have questioned the authorities as what wrong did the celebrities do?

I also request the people who received notices to come out in the open and speak up. It is true that the allegations made on you have caused pain to your well-wishers and family members. So, please step forward and take the courage to write an open letter and talk about it. When even charges are not filed, the constitution has given rights for every citizen to speak.

If you feel that you will be locked up with false cases if you speak your rights, then there is no coward like you, and it is against the Constitution.

After the final investigation, when all the celebrities are proved innocent then the Chamber has to write an open letter of apology to the celebrities. If this doesn't happen, people might assume celebs were spared just because Film Chamber has issued an apology? Film Chamber has the responsibility to ensure that lies never become a truth."
