Xiaomi rolls out Mi Band 2 with heart rate sensor

Xiaomi rolls out Mi Band 2

Xiaomi Mi Band 2 is the second generation of Xiaomi's wearable activity tracker band, initially launched by the company in 2014. The new version comes with an OLED digital display and a heart rate sensor upgrade.

The device is priced at ₹1,500. The company stated that it added a heart rate sensor to the device, thanks to user demand.

The new version is much like the initial model of the Mi Band. It connects to smartphones via Bluetooth and alerts users about incoming calls, messages, alarms or any other notifications through vibrations.

The most exciting addition to the new Mi Band is a 0.42-inch OLED display. OLED offers a display without any backlight, and it is even lighter than a Liquid Crystal Display (LCD).

The Mi Band 2 has a battery backup of 70MAh which sustains the device for 20 days. However, its primary model had a battery life of 30 days.

Xiaomi has claimed that the device is water resistant and a skin friendly device.

The Mi Band 2 will be compatible with all the operating systems above Android 4.4 and iOS 7, and will be available in black, blue green and orange colours.

Unfortunately, the company has not yet released any statement on the international availability of the Mi Band 2. It has currently been rolled out in China and will be available for sale from June 7.
