Tech giants fall in line, IT minister calls it 'big step towards transparency'

Union Infomation Technology and Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has praised technology giants Google, Facebook and Instagram for publishing their first reports on voluntary removal of offensive posts in compliance with the new IT Rules 2021.
The minister called it a big step towards transparency.

Facebook on Friday released a compliance report for May 15-June 15 in which the platform stated that it had taken action against more than 30 million posts while Instagram, also owned by Facebook, acted against about two million posts.
Another technology giant, Google removed 59,350 links from its products, including YouTube.
Twitter's Indian alternative, Koo, in its report, said it had taken action upon 1,253 of the 5,502 complaints.
