Design

Both the iPhone and OnePlus 5 come with a similar design, sort of. You will find the antenna bands on the upper rear side, curved along the edge, and both feature a unibody metal design. However, fortunately, OnePlus has retained the audio jack and front home button doubles as the fingerprint scanner too. Size-wise, the OnePlus 5 is slightly bigger and also heavier than the iPhone 7. Also, OnePlus doesn't come with water or dust resistance ability.

Display

The OnePlus 5 sports a 5.5-inch 1080 x 1920 display while the iPhone 7 gets a smaller 4.7-inch display with 750 x 1334 pixels of resolution. OnePlus comes with an AMOLED display and the display is sharper than the iPhpone 7 at roughly 400 ppi.

Processor

OnePlus 5 is among the few devices that come with the powerful Snapdragon 835 processor clocked at 2.45GHz. It is coupled with 8GB of RAM. You will also get a 6GB variant. The iPhone 7, on the other hand, get the powerful A10 Fusion chipset coupled with 2GB RAM. Needless to say, Apple phones are known to use less RAM and that is no indicator to claim that the OnePlus 5 is way too powerful than the iPhone 7.

OS

OnePlus 5 runs Android Nougat with a layer of Oxygen OS, while the iPhone 7 runs iOS 10.

Camera

OnePlus 5 gets a dual rear camera setup - 16MP with f/1.7 + 20MP f/2.6- that also allows creating the bokeh effect, which essentially means focussing on the main subject and blurring the background. Both lenses

Battery

The OnePlus 5 has a 3300mAh battery while the iPhone 7 has just a 1960mAh battery. The iPhone battery can barely squeeze through the day, but we expect OnePlus 5 could possibly provide fuel for over a day.

Price

The OnePlus 5 will be launched in India tomorrow, wherein we'll finally know the India pricing and availability details. OnePlus 5, during the global launch, was priced at $479 which translates to roughly Rs 30,700. Currently, a 32GB iPhone 7 is priced at roughly Rs 45000.

Verdict

OnePlus 5 definitely seems to have an upper hand when it comes to the specs. It brings the dual camera, that is seen in the iPhone 7 Plus, which is priced way higher. In fact, its the pricing that will work in OnePlus' favour. The company has dominated the mid-range segment. And, it is considered the best device in the price range. OnePlus maintains the price could help the company further. Yes, on paper, the OnePlus 5 seems better positioned than the iPhone 7, but we cannot comment on the performance until we've got the device. Moreover, the iPhone 7 will soon be phased out as the iPhone 8 is all set to make its debut soon.
