Nokia 3, Nokia 5 or Nokia 6: Which one offers best value for money?
- Nokia 3 is meant for basic users and comes with limited power under the hood.
- Both Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 have fingerprint sensor, NFC and USB OTG and run the same Android version.
- Nokia 6 comes with 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage.
Everything about the three phones are different apart from the fact that they run stock Android 7.0 and that they are sold by HMD Global owned Nokia. Right from the price to the users they are meant for, Nokia has effectively deployed its ‘one size doesn’t fit all’ strategy. It is even soon expected to expand its footprint to the mid-segment and high-end market with Nokia 8 and Nokia 9.
Talking about the Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6, the first thing or rather the only thing you should consider before buying is your usage pattern. All these phones are built out of solid aluminium and every bit sturdy like the Nokias were 10 years ago. Also, all will be updated to Android O. You may buy the Nokia 5 if you have a budget for the Nokia 3, and the Nokia 6 if you somehow decide for the Nokia 6.
Nokia 3 vs Nokia 5
The Nokia 3 is meant for basic users and comes with limited power under the hood. It runs the MediaTek MT6737 processor with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage on board expandable to 256GB via micro SD card and is available for Rs 9,499.
The Nokia 5 on the other hand comes with a Snapdragon 430 processor but with same RAM and storage as Nokia 3. Moreover, both havea 5.2 inch display with 720p HD resolution and corning gorilla glass on top.
Nokia 5 does have a fingerprint sensor and has a larger 3000mAh battery despite the same size and has a 13MP shooter at the rear compared to 8MP on the Nokia 3.
But forget all the hardware differences, the big reason why you would be buying the Nokia 5 is that is offers better performance. The experience is much smoother than the Nokia 3 thanks to the Qualcomm chip. Everything else- better camera, better battery and a fingerprint sensor- is just a cherry on top.
Having said that, the Nokia 3 does great in its own price and is one of the best devices you can buy right now. If you do not extensively use your phone for browsing, gaming or use a lot of apps, then Nokia 3 would suffice. If you do, you should extend your budget and get the Nokia 5.
Nokia 5 and Nokia 6
Now if Nokia 5 is on your list, Nokia 6 is not far in terms of money. Selling online only, the Nokia 6 would be the best bet for consumers shopping online and are willing to spend more for some extra features. While both run the Snapdragon 430 under the hood, here is what is different between the two.
Nokia 6 comes with 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage, which is straight upgrade for power users. It features a bigger 5.5-inch display that has better (full HD)resolution. Then it has a 16MP rear camera with phase detection autofocus which is again better than the Nokia 5.
Apart from these basic differences, Nokia 6 packs some premium features like dual speakers with Dolby Atmos technology, which makes it one of kind phone in the segment, compared to the likes of Moto G5 Plus or Galaxy J phones.
Both Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 have fingerprint sensor, NFC and USB OTG and run the same Android version. Though Nokia 5 is certainly better than the Nokia 3, it loses out to the Nokia 6 only in terms of features, if you couldn’t care less.
The beauty of these phones is that with stock Android interface and a strong metal build, they are meant to last longer- inside out- and hence are an immense value for money. All the phones are a winner in their respective price segments and you may choose any according to your budget.
It should be noted that the Nokia 6 Arte Black, the phone still kept under wraps by Nokia could seem to be a better deal, still, for many. It comes with 4GB RAM, 64GB storage and glossy back finish for a more premium look. Again it leads the segment with its expected sub-18k pricing.
