We don't know about you but Tamil Nadu State government employees will get Rs 489-cr festival bonus

While you may or may not get a bonus this festive season, the Tamil Nadu state government employees will get a good amount to enjoy Diwali.

Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Monday announced a festival bonus and ex-gratia to the tune of Rs 489.26 crore for State government employees, reported the Hindu.

Close to 3.69 lakh employees including contract labourers of various public sector undertakings (PSUs) and government departments will enjoy the benefits.

The employees of profit-making PSUs would get a bonus of 8.33% and ex-gratia of 11.67%, while those of loss-making units would get a bonus of 8.33% and ex-gratia of 1.67%.

The ‘C’ and ‘D’ category employees of the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board would get a bonus of 8.33%, while employees of the Tamil Nadu Housing Board, who fall under the above-mentioned categories, would get an 8.33% bonus and an ex-gratia of 1.67%, reported the Hindu.

The contract labourers of Tangedco would get Rs 4,000 each, while those of the civil supplies corporation would get Rs 3,000 each.

The employees of cooperatives, who are not covered under the Bonus Act, would get Rs. 3,000 each, while those working for primary cooperative societies would receive Rs. 2,400 each.
