- The Ashram Matriculation School run by Tamil megastar Rajinikanth's wife Latha Rajinikanth has been shut down by the authorities
- The school has been shut down over non-payment of rent
- The school has allegedly not paid rent to the tune of Rs 10 crores to the landowner for 5 years
A Chennai school, which is run by Tamil megastar Rajinikanth's wife Latha Rajinikanth, The Ashram Matriculation School, has been reportedly shut down by the authorities.
The school, which conducts classes from kindergarten to plus two, is functioning near Race Course at Guindy in Chennai.
According to ANI, the dues were not cleared to the building owners. While most of the people are calling it a case of lack of funds, there are some who are trying to give a political twist to it as the reports of the 66-year-old actor's entry in politics have been surfacing online since quite a while now.
Over 300 students who have been studying there have now been transferred to the same school’s ICSE branch in Velachery in Chennai.
The Ashram has again for the second time run into trouble over alleged non-payment. The school has allegedly not paid rent to the tune of Rs 10 crores to the landowner for 5 years.
However, the school’s management has issued a press note, requesting the public not to believe the news widely getting circulated and is expected to come up with an official clarification on this issue.
The school had, in 2011, been served an eviction notice for the nonpayment of dues.
