In an embarrassing moment for AIADMK, party leader Sasikala's attempt to make a positive public image has backfired as the cheque of Rs 10 lakh she had donated to a special school bounced because the signature did not match. Moreover, the hearing aids she had donated to the children of the same school on January 17 to commemorate MGR's 100th birth anniversary were taken back by the company the very next day because they had not been paid for.

An official from the company, speaking to the media, said, "We did provide hearing aids to the school, but since we didn’t get the money (from Sasikala), we took them back the next day. It's been more than three months since this happened, but we haven’t received the money yet.”

Close to 245 kits, costing Rs 18.13 lakh were distributed to the school children. Each of them were from good brands like Hansaton and Rexton and were worth Rs 7,400 each. It is being said that attempts have been made to inform Poes Garden about the incidents, but there have been no response to the issues. Although assurances of another grant had been made, there have been no positive action thereafter.

A source from the school said that the institute had received many funds from Jayalalithaa and Sasikala, especially during the Chennai floods which had battered the school's infrastructure.
