Imprisoned AIADMK leader VK Sasikala has been granted parole, multiple sources have confirmed. The Bengaluru Jail authorities have started the formalities for her release from the central jail.
Jail superintendent Somashekar will be sanctioning Sasikala’s parole and she is expected to be out of Parappana Agrahara Central Jail soon. The ANI report citing Sasikala's lawyer said that the jail authorities have received an email from Chennai police commissioner agreeing for parole with certain conditions.
AIADMK leader Sasikala filed for an emergency parole form on Thursday and also attached documents, including a medical certificate of her ailing husband, Natarajan. She had requested for 15 days parole. However, the authorities have agreed for only five days and she strictly has been asked to get away from any political activity.
Sasikala'a nephew TTV Dinakaran and several other AIADMK leaders have arrived at the Central jail.
Sasikala is serving a four year jail term in a disproportionate assets case and has been lodged at the Bengaluru cental jail since February. Her husband M Natarajan underwent a dual organ transplant at Gleneagles Global Health City in Chennai on Tuesday. His condition is said to be stable after the seven-and-a-half hour kidney and liver transplant surgery that began late on Tuesday night
