Actor Sarathkumar opens up about GST.
While on a personal trip to Karaikudi in Sivaganga district, he met reporters and said, “When termed as ‘One Nation, One Tax’, the GST is a great scheme. But the implementation of the same in a short notice without important discussions is wrong. People are still in a state of confusion. They have not been given the right information. Industries are at a standstill. For a Rs 100 ticket if we pay Rs 64 as tax, how will the cinema industry survive with the remaining Rs 34?”
A reporter asked, “Why don’t the actors agree to charge less instead of asking the government to reduce the tax?”
In reply to that he said “If the film actors agree to this do you think this issue will get solved? This will never solve the problem.”
