Hero stray dogs help nab Chennai stalker who stabbed woman

In a miraculous incident, two street dogs in Chennai helped in apprehending a stalker after he attacked and stabbed a 31-year-old woman in Jagadambal Street in West Mambalam of Chennai. The incident happened on the morning of March 22.

The attacker named R Raghunath is the former colleague of the victim C Suchismitha who is an employee of Ashok Leyland’s R&D department. The Times of India report quoted the investigating officer as saying that the company dismissed Raghunath a year ago for harassing Suchismitha and he blamed the girl for losing his job.

Raghunath, a mechanical engineer, was a contract employee who was terminated in July last year after he allegedly touched Suchismitha inappropriately while boarding the company bus. He is jobless since his termination.

On the day of the attack, Suchismitha left her hostel at 6:30 am and was walking towards the bus stop when Raghunath accosted her and stabbed her in the stomach. He then tried to flee the spot when the two street dogs chased him helping the locals to catch hold of him. He was later handed over to Mambalam police.

Suchismitha, a native of Kolkata, sustained injuries on her abdominal, and currently, she is getting treatment at a private hospital in Chennai.

TOI quoted an auto driver named, Ram, as saying that the dogs played a major role to catch Raghunath since the attack took place early in the morning and he could have escaped easily if not chased by the two dogs.
