The process of digging out the security vault of Chennai Silks from the ruins of the burned down building is being quickened.

On March 31, 2017, the building of Chennai Silks collapsed due to fire. The demolition process had begun on June 2, 2017

While demolishing the front portion of the building, a security deposit vault was said to have fallen into the ruins. It was on June 20, 2017, that the building was completely demolished.

After which, in the presence of Chennai Silks owner and the officials, it was decided to look for the security deposit vault amidst the ruins.

Yesterday, with the help of a crane, a security vault of the size 7 feet and width 4 feet was found. It was then handed over to the owner. Later the vault was sent to a safe place.

Saravanan, the Assistant Commissioner from T Nagar, said, “There was no money inside the security vault, but it was found to contain important documents related to Chennai Silks. Some of which were found to be damaged. We were informed about the vaults that contain silver, gold and diamond but only when the ruins are completely removed can we find those vaults.”

Those vaults with silver, gold and diamond were said to have stored on the ground floor for safety purposes.
