A 16-year-old boy, expelled from school, devised a horrifying revenge plan against his teacher at a school in Tirukazhukundram. On Thursday morning, he barged into a classroom with a knife and attacked a teacher, P Poonkodi, as the children watched in horror.
Students raised an alarm after the attack at 10:30 am in Little Jacky Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Sogandi. As the student tried to flee the compound, staff members caught him and handed him over to the police. Meanwhile, the teacher was discharged from Chengalpet Government Hospital after treatment for a deep cut on the forehead, just above the eyebrow.
The Tirukazhukundram police detained the juvenile and registered a case under under IPC sections 294 (obscene acts or speech in public), 324 (causing hurt with a weapon) and 506 (II) (punishment for criminal intimidation); and under Section 4 of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act (prevention of harassment of women).
Police said that they would send the boy to a correctional facility in Chengalpet for juveniles in conflict with the law. A senior officer said, "The school gave the boy ,a resident of Singaperumal Koil near Maraimalai Nagar, a transfer certificate and asked to join another school for disobedience and poor academic performance in Class IX."
He further added, "The boy devised a plan to take revenge against two of his teachers including Poonkodi. He hid a small penknife in his shirt and attacked Poonkodi in a classroom."
