Tokyo Olympics: Haryana CM announces ₹6 crore reward for gold medalist Neeraj Chopra

India continues to rejoice in Neeraj Chopra’s gold-medal win in the javelin throw at the Tokyo Olympics. Meanwhile, he would be awarded a cash prize of ₹6 crore by the Haryana government.

Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra has made the nation proud by winning the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics. Consequently, acclaims and rewards are in order.

Meanwhile, Manohar Lal Khattar, the chief minister of Haryana, announced that the government would be giving him a reward of ₹6 crore. He also said that Neeraj would be given a government job, despite the athlete already serving the Indian Army.

Neeraj is only the second individual Olympic gold medalist from India after shooter Abhinav Bindra. Following the feat, Khattar said that the entire nation was waiting for this moment, while the country is incredibly proud of him, reports IANS.

Meanwhile, Amarinder Singh, the chief minister of Punjab, wrote on social media, “Gold! Neeraj Chopra… you have created history and made the whole country proud. Your 87.58 m winning throw today will be part of the legends of the Track and Field arena. India owes you! Jai Hind.”
