SOUTH African cricket wizard AB de Villiers produced a piece of magic in the Indian Premier League, taking a catch many fans are declaring a contender for the best of all-time.
As the Indian Premier League nears the final league games, the competition is getting more robust and exciting. The fans are left thinking as to which teams are going to make it into the playoffs of the tournament. Last night, it was Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore who kept their chances wide open after a victory over the table-toppers - Sunrisers Hyderabad.
RCB batted first and scored a whopping 218 runs at the end of 20 overs. Moeen Ali and AB de Villiers contributed immensely to this massive total by smashing half centuries. Ali hit 65 in 34 deliveries while ABD scored 69 in just 39 balls.
Not only did ABD show excellence in batting, but impressed us with his superman catch too.
However, de Villiers is no stranger to superhuman feats of athleticism, and he was at its best last night.
The ‘Superman’ de Villiers was fielding at the boundary rope when he reeled in a one-handed screamer – to dismiss English pick, Hales.
Somehow, defying the gravity, De Villiers managed to plunge on to the fiercely-struck ball and stay within the ropes.
If you've resisted scrolling down for the video already, well done. If not, enjoy... you'll soon understand why it's being described as the 'catch of the century' by many that saw it.
The cricket world — led by De Villiers’ captain at Bangalore, Virat Kohli — reacted with similar disbelief.
