Haney's brilliant display with a best throw of 55.97m also secured the javelin star a Games record. Boby finished 6th in the same event with 42.23m. With this feat, India's total medal tally goes up to 42, including 11 gold medals.
Earlier today, in a remarkable display of athleticism, Sumit Antil, the reigning Paralympics champion, secured a gold medal in the javelin throw F64 event at the Asian Para Games 2023. His astounding performance resulted in a world record throw of 73.29m, surpassing his own previous record of 70.83m set during his gold-winning performance at the World Para Athletics Championships in Paris earlier this year.
Another Indian athlete, Pushpendra Singh, also achieved success in the same event, earning the bronze medal with an impressive throw covering a distance of 62.06m. Meanwhile, Samitha Arachchige Kodithuwakku of Sri Lanka secured the silver medal with a throw that covered a distance of 64.09m.
Sumit Antil's victory at the Tokyo Paralympic Games in the men's javelin F64 event, where he set a then-world record of 68.55m, had already solidified his status as a world-class athlete.
