After Garry Kasparov, Viswanathan Anand trumps Vladimir Kramnik
Indian Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand continues his legacy as one of India's and the world's greatest chess players. While he recently beat fellow Grandmaster Garry Kasparov last week, he had trumped another fellow Grandmaster Vladimir Kramnik.
Vishwanathan Anand, one of the greatest Indian chess Grandmasters, has recently been on a roll. Last week, he made headlines after beating fellow Grandmaster Garry Kasparov during the Croatia Grand Chess Tour.
Meanwhile, he is in the news again as he has trumped another renowned Grandmaster, Vladimir Kramnik of Russia, in the opening game of the four-game series on Wednesday, reports ANI. It was a No-Castling game, as Anand had to toil, beating the Russian in 66 moves. The variant was used to test the Alpha Zero method recently introduced.
Anand is looking to continue with the momentum he gathered last week after taming Kasparov the previous week. However, he had lost to Ian Nepomniachtchi of Russia, while the latter finished first with a rating of 4.5/5.
