All the courage she had summoned vaporised as the 24-year-old from Saharanpur near Bareilly in UP stared at the waters of Yamuna Canal. Ditched by her longtime boyfriend, she had lost all hope in life. But, she found death by drowning too scary and thought of easier means to kill self. 

 

 She googled it, and the search for easy ways to commit suicide provided links to helplines. That was her way back to life from the edge. Soon, she found herself pouring her heart out to the deputy inspector general of police. 

 

That conversation brightened her up and she found life beckoning her. After the brief telephonic chat, the DIG invited her to meet him in his office. The girl turned up after a while, and he advised her to go for counselling.  Her boy friend had left her under pressure from his parents, prompting her to think of drastic steps. 

 

The DIG also summoned her lover and made arrangements to give the couple a detailed counselling session. It is yet to be known whether they rekindled their love. But the counselling worked wonders on her. Back to life from the edge, she is a bolder personality.
