The Karnataka state government has ordered to stop releasing water to the channels as the water-level in the KRS has hit rock bottom. Water from these channels was used for irrigation purpose of the farmers of surrounding areas.

The dam can hold 124.80 feet water. But currently, it has 76.03 feet water, making it difficult to supply water for agriculture purpose.

Earlier, The Supreme Court had ordered Karnataka to release water to Tamil Nadu, despite the pleading that the state did not have sufficient water.

Reports had also said that the state might face water crisis in the coming days as it doesn’t have sufficient water for drinking purpose.
