Trisha was shooting for her movie Garjanai at Sivagangai district in the state. The actress is the goodwill ambassador of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). Citing this as the reason a group of people disrupted the shoot and tried to attack Trisha on the sets.

PETA is one among the many animal rights organisations, responsible for pressing Supreme Court to ban Jallikattu. Considering Trisha as the soft target, the violent group of Jallikattu supporters even trolled Trisha on social media.

Jallikattu or bull taming is a traditional sport conducted during Pongal festival in Tamil Nadu. The sport was banned by the Supreme Court in 2014 as it considered Jallikattu to be cruel to animal.
