Mallikarjun Kharge refuses to inaugurate badly constructed new bridge

Loksabha MP Mallikarjun Kharge was invited to inaugurate a newly constructed bridge in Sonna village, Jevargi taluk, Kalaburgi District on January 23. Much to his shock, the structure of the bridge already had a crack in it. Angered by the carelessness, Kharge refused to inaugurate it or have anything to do with it.

Kharge was invited by the district-in-charge minister, Dr. Sharanaprakash Patil, for the inauguration of the bridge. Sources claim that Kharge blamed the PWD officers who were present there when he found the defects in the bridge.

When the PWD engineers and officers had no explanation for this lapse in construction, an angry Kharge remarked that Dr. Sharanaprakash Patil himself would be the suitable person to inaugurate this kind of bridge and asked the officers to get the bridge inaugurated by him.

Funnily enough, the minister came forward and inaugurated the defective bridge, despite the faulty construction. Dr. Ajay Singh, MLA of Jewargi constituency was also present at the spot.

Sources say that Mallikarjuna Kharge advised the legislator to check the quality of works under the government department and left the place.
