Next time you buy new vehicle in Kerala, take extra caution! Some dealers are cheating customers by selling off old vehicles by forging documents.

Police have registered six cases for selling cars and motor bikes using forged documents and by changing manufacturing date in the temporary registration cerificate.

Manufacturing date and model of the vehicle can easily be found by checking the chassis number. But most of the customers are not aware of this. The dealers hoodwink ignorant customers and hand over old models. When the dealers apply for temporary registration, they change the date of manufacturing.

Dealers are making good profit through such deals while the customers suffer. The year-end and New Year discount sales are also a ploy to sell off vehicles manufactured a year or two before, auto experts warn.

Vehicle dealers claim that such errors are not deliberate. Auto experts say that such tendencies can easily be checked if the dealers give chassis number certified by manufacturer along with sales certificate.
