Bengaluru advocate murder and Shruti Gowda suicide relatives deny affair

The suicide of a Bengaluru woman and the consequences that led to it have shaken the city in the past few hours. Now more theories are being added from both sides, confusing the police as to who to believe. Slowly as the investigation progressed, the police were able to piece together what circumstances led to the shooting of advocate Amit Keshavamurthy  and how Shruti Gowda, a Panchayat Development Officer in Gollahalli committed suicide soon after.

On January 13, the police were surprised to find Rajesh and his 78-year-old father Gopalakrishna  Gowda standing in front of them. Both were confessing to the same crime – that of having shot Amit Keshavamurthy. Later on, the gun used in the crime was examined, and forensic reports all pointed to the fact that it was Rajesh who had pulled the trigger and shot Amit, while father Gopal Krishna was just trying to take the blame for the murder to shield his son.

The father-son duo have claimed to have shot Amit because his closeness to Shruti angered them. As we mentioned, previously, Shruti, Rajesh’s wife was alleged to have had an affair with Amit. Despite repeated warnings, Rajesh said, his wife had chosen to disregard their warnings and was still meeting Amit in secret. Rajesh had even threatened her with divorce but it is alleged that Shruti instead blamed her husband for accusing her of infidelity.

While Shruti’s husband is convinced that the slain lawyer Amit and his wife were having an affair. A report in Deccan Herald states how Amit’s relative  Manjunatha Gowda  has claimed that the lawyer’s death is  the result of a case of mistaken identity. Manjunatha says that Shruti loved someone by the name of Ravindra and he resided close to where the murder had happened. He also says that Amit and Shruti were discussing a legal case when Rajesh and his father stormed into the scene and the event occurred.

On the day of the crime Shruti had, according to Rajesh, pretended to go for an official meeting but instead she went to meet Amit. Rajesh traced his wife’s movements with the help of a GPS tracker he had installed on his wife’s car. In his statement to the Soladevanahalli police, Rajesh explained how he reached the venue to see his wife’s car parked at Acharya PU College on Hesaraghatta Road.

An altercation happened between the trio and in a fit of rage, Rajesh used the gun on Amit. Shruti, devastated by the tragic turn of events is said to have rushed Amit to the hospital, booked a room in the nearby lodge and then committed suicide.
