Woman forcefully fed alcohol and gang-raped in Kozhikode
In a gruesome incident, a 35-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped after being forced to drink liquor in Koduvally, on the outskirts of Kozhikode. The incident occurred about three months ago on top of a shop at Kizhakothu Pannur.

In a complaint lodged with Koduvally police on April 24, the woman said that she was sexually assaulted by a six-member gang including her neighbour on January 30.
The woman who was mentally disturbed after the incident chose to be quiet before she finally decided to confide in her husband two days ago, as the perpetrators started blackmailing her for sexual favours. The husband, in turn, lodged a complaint allegedly stating that she was raped the whole night and the entire incident was photographed.
According to reports, one of the accused, who was a neighbour of the victim and shared good relations with her, took her to a desolated house on the night of the incident where they were joined by the other accused. Then they forced her into drinking liquor and took turns to rape her.
The police complaint also mentions that the accused were local people who resided nearby.
Stating the woman has been subjected to medical examination, police said that a case has been registered against the six people for rape (IPC section 375) and illegal confinement (section 342).
However, there are allegations that the police were hesitant to act initially as they sent back the couple without accepting their complaint and it was only on Wednesday, April 25, that the case was registered. The relatives believe that it is this delay that allowed the accused to go into hiding.
