Distressed parents were spotted throwing their children through the windows of Grenfell Tower in order to save them from the devastating blaze as fire engulfed the building. Eyewitness statements reveal the terrifying scene where parents were desperately trying to get their children to safety.

One eyewitness told BBC News that there were people just throwing their kids out saying 'Save my children.' Another witness said she way a child on fire jump from the 22nd floor as the blaze took hold. The kid just walked to the window and jumped, the witness said.

A bystander said that she saw a baby thrown from the ninth or 10th floor and people managed to save the child. "The woman gestured that she was about to throw the baby and a gentleman ran forward and grabbed the baby," the witness said.

Joe Walsh, another witness, said he saw parents throwing two kids out of the window of the fifth or sixth floor, but not sure if anyone caught them.

Police have so far confirmed the death of six persons and expect the death toll to rise further as the blaze swept through the 24-storey apartment in central London.
