Kerala could have its personal Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, thanks to this man
Harikumar, a 33-year-old native of Kumbanad had started his own wax statue-making venture a year ago and has successfully made the sculptures of seven noted personalities including superstars Mammotty and Mohanlal.
To see one’s wax statue in the famous Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in London is every noted personality’s dream but here is a man who makes life-size wax models of celebrities and goes without recognition.
Harikumar, a 33-year-old native of Kumbanad was passionate about carving figures on wood and moulding clay models as a young child but his dreams took a new turn when he visited the wax museum of famous sculptor Sunil Kandalloor at Lonavala, near Pune. Like the epic character of Ekalavya, he became a self-proclaimed disciple of the artist and started his own wax statue-making venture a year ago. It took him loads of research and five long years of practice to make wax statues with perfection.
Harikumar sculpted the wax statues of Malayalam superstars Mohanlal and Mammootty following a conventional style and took no physical measurement of the actors before sculpting their models.
The artist has also made the life-size wax models of A.P.J Abdul Kalam, K.J. Yesudas, actors Prabhas, Shahrukh Khan and Rajnikant and dreams of setting up a celebrity wax museum in Kerala.
