Chitradurga: Three Bengaluru students died on the spot in a tragic road accident in Chitradurga. At least six have suffered injuries.

The accident happened when a lorry hit a stationary tempo traveller near JMIT College in Chitradurga in the wee hours of Monday (April 22). Karthik Gowda, Harsha, Shrinidhi, all 20-year-olds died on the spot.

At least 13 students from Bengaluru’s Vijaya College had gone to Gokarna from Bengaluru. They are all pursuing final year BCom. They were returning from Gokarna, when a tyre of the tempo traveller they were travelling in, burst. As the vehicle stopped and students were still inside the vehicle, a speeding lorry rammed the vehicle from behind, killing three students standing on the road, next to the tempo traveller.

The injured were admitted to a nearby hospital and are undergoing treatment.

A case has been registered at Kote Police Station in Chitradurga.

Meanwhile, a KSRTC bus fell into a stormwater drain in Chitradurga in the wee hours of Monday. The driver lost balance of the vehicle and the bus fell into the water body. At least five were severely injured and 30 have suffered minor injuries.
