India will issue 5 year business visas to expats and Emiratis

From April 1, the Indian missions in the UAE will be ‘issued as routine’ five-year multiple-entry business visas to Emiratis and expats living in the country to travel to India. The announcement was made on March 2 by India’s ambassador, Navdeep Singh Suri at the Indian Consulate in Dubai.

The five-year multiple-entry business visa will be the norm for the bona fide applicants, Suri stated. He also confirmed that in next few months, similar tourist visas to travel to India would also be issued.

This business visa will cost 1,500 dirham, and the process will include submission of applicant’s biometric data or a face to face interview.

Citizens and the residents of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries are technically eligible for applying for this five-year multiple-entry business visa, the ambassador said. But, he further added that it depends on the Indian missions located in the other GCC countries to make an announcement about when they can issue these visas.

Suri stated that this move came after UAE made a request and for facilitating trade while making India a business-friendly destination.
