Youth arrested for abducting, raping minor girl in TVM
- The accused has been identified as Jayadev, 20, an alleged RSS activist
- The youth has also been accused of trying to influence witnesses in the case
- A first class judicial magistrate court has remanded him to two weeks judicial custody
FollowThe police arrested a youth in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday for allegedly abducting and raping a minor girl last month.Â
The accused has been identified as Jayadev, 20, an alleged RSS activist from the state capital. According to police, Jayadev was charged under sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POSCO) Act. A first class judicial magistrate court in Neyyattinkara has remanded the accused to two weeks judicial custody.Â
The incident happened on July 21. Thiruvallam police then registered a case against Jayadev on the complaint from the girl's parents, following which Jayadev went absconding. The youth has also been accused of trying to influence witnesses in the case.
Reports claim that though he was absconding, Jayadev had a role in the RSS-CPM clashes in the capital last month. Another case is also pending against him in connection with the destruction of a flag mast of the ruling CPM last year.
