She has been booked under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code for an attempt to murder.

The couple had taken a room at the hotel. Irshad ran out of the room soon after the attack and was admitted to a hospital. The youth at first said that the act was performed by him, but later stated that it was his wife who cut off his genitals. However, Kahirunnisa confessed that she committed the crime.

He underwent an emergency operation as the cut was almost 70% deep. Irshad is working abroad and reached Kerala only a few days ago.

This is the second bobbiting case reported from the state this year after godman Sreehari aka Swami Gangeshananda had his genitals chopped off by a 23-year-old law student, alleging rape, in Thiruvananthapuram. The controversial case, which grabbed national headlines, has undergone a few twists and turns since the incident took place on May 18.

Meanwhile, in a similar attack, unknown assailants assaulted a young Congress leader in Thiruvananthapuram last week and caused severe injuries to his private parts.
