The Ernakulam additional Sessions Court has found that the prime accused and co-accused in sensational Varappuzha sex scandal guilty. The court had acquitted six persons who were named accused in the case.

The court found that prime accused Sobha John and co-accused Jayachandran Nair were guilty in the incident that dates back to 2011. The duo was found guilty in one of the cases among the 26 cases in which there were 80 accused. The police had arrested 72 persons in connection with the sex scandal.
The co-accused is an ex-army officer. The case was registered after police busted a sex racket in August 2011. Sobha John was running a brothel at Varapuzha.
The incident came to light when a minor girl escaped from the brothel and revealed that she was sold to Sobha by her parents for ₹1 lakh. The minor also said that almost 200 persons exploited her while she was in Sobha's custody.
