High Court grants anticipatory bail to former DGP Senkumar

  • High Court asked Senkumar to appear before investigation team within ten days
  • Former police chief was alleged to have made statements likely to spread communal hatred
  • He told court that he raised apprehensions on growing influence of ISIS in Kerala
Senkumar High Court anticipatory bail communal hatred

Kerala High Court granted anticipatory bail to former DGP Senkumar in the case over his alleged 'communally provocative' comments. He was also told to appear before the investigation team within ten days for interrogation. 

The court also said that former state police should be released on bail, in case he is arrested after questioning. The High Court had earlier granted interim bail to Senkumar on condition.

The investigation team probing the case had earlier taken his statement. Senkumar maintained his stance that the statement is not likely to create communal tension. 

The former police officer also said that he had not given permission to the media persons to record his talk and that it was only a casual conversation and not a formal interview. He also told the court that he had just expressed his apprehensions about the spread of ISIS in Kerala.
